Stacky Slimes
How high can you stack?
Stacky Slimes is a simple, chaotic stacking game about one thing: getting as high as possible without dropping the blob.
A slime swings back and forth above your tower. Tap or click to drop it. If it lands with enough overlap, it becomes part of the tower and the next slime appears.
But there’s a catch.
The more mistakes you make, the smaller you get.
Every time a slime lands, your placement is evaluated based on how much of it overlaps the slime underneath. A good landing keeps more of your scale. A sloppy landing makes the next slime smaller.
Miss too far, and it's game over.
So the higher you build, the more important every drop becomes.
Stack carefully. Keep your scale. Beat your high score.
The idea behind "Scale"
The game is built around a very simple relationship:
Better placement → more scale → bigger slimes → easier stacking.
Worse placement → less scale → smaller slimes → harder stacking.
Your scale is essentially your margin for error. As your slimes shrink, even a small mistake becomes more significant.
It creates a simple difficulty curve without needing complicated systems, enemies, levels or progression. The game itself gets harder because you get smaller. And since a smaller slime needs to travel faster to cover the same distance as a bigger slime, the difficulty increases naturally!
And that's the whole challenge.
Simple by design
The original goal for Stacky Slimes was to find a game concept with the smallest possible scope.
One mechanic. One input. One growing tower.
The challenge comes entirely from trying to improve your timing and placement. There's no complicated inventory, no elaborate progression system and no huge collection of mechanics to learn.
Just:
Watch → Tap → Stack → Repeat.
Sometimes keeping a game simple is the hardest part.
Made with
Stacky Slimes was built in Unity, which handles the game framework, gameplay systems, input, animation and everything holding the game together.
The music and sound effects were made with Strudel and Audacity. The soundtrack was built around the playful, arcade-like feeling of the game, while the sound effects help give every stack, bounce and mistake a little more personality.
Artwork and UI elements were created in paint.net . Fonts were obtained through Google Fonts.
The music is inspired by classic arcade games like Bubble Bobble and it turned out quite nicely, seamless transitions between menu/game and game over.
The result is intentionally small and focused — a complete little game built around a single idea.
